2014 City Clinics

CitiClinics
Through the City Clinics program, participating youths learn first-hand from some of their local Major Leaguers that baseball is an exciting and challenging sport played by some very entertaining personalities.

At the start of every Major League Baseball season you are likely to read or hear news reports about the dwindling number of African-American players in the Majors.  Major Leaguers want to do their part in trying to reverse this trend, and that’s why they created the Players Trust’s City Clinics program.  Through the City Clinics program, the players themselves have taken center stage to help teach baseball skills and important life lessons to inner-city youth, ages 6-16, in the U.S. and Puerto Rico.  Through this popular program, participating youths learn first-hand from some of their local Major Leaguers that baseball is an exciting and challenging sport played by some very entertaining personalities.  Although City Clinics isn’t likely to produce a future Major Leaguer overnight, the program does demonstrate to all its participants that through hard work and determination, their dreams can come true.  This season, City Clinics will be held in Boston, Cleveland, Denver, Kansas City, Minnesota, New York City and San Diego.  Exact dates for the clinic in each of these locations are posted on our events calendar.  If you represent or know of an inner-city youth organization in any of these locations that would like to be considered for participation in a clinic, please contact us at PlayersTrust@mlbpa.org.  The Players Trust City Clinics program enjoys the backing of Majestic Athletic, a longtime supporter of the players’ charitable efforts.
