WATCHUNG HILLS, N.J. — Action Team Captains from Watchung Hills Regional High School ended the school year on a high note this past weekend, raising $7,789 for their participation in their town’s local Lakeview 5K.
In addition to walking or running the 3.1-mile course, the Captains raised much-needed funds for the New Jersey Institute for Disabilities, which provides services for more than 1,500 disabled infants, youth and adults throughout New Jersey.
Action Team Captains nearly doubled their last year’s fund-raising total of $4,000, by raising $7,789, which represented more than 50 percent of the total $15,263 raised during the 5K race.
“Being a part of the Action Team has allowed me to volunteer in events such as the 5K to better my community and the people who surround me,” Watchung Hills Action Team Captain and student founder Ryan Goldberg said.
“The 5K was a great success and demonstrated all the great things the Action Team does for the community, specifically helping others in need. I’m truly grateful for all the Action Team has allowed me to accomplish and hopefully will be able to continue its success at my high school next year!”
