Eligibility Requirement

The Action Team was created to be a flexible community service program that can be implemented in high schools across the country with ease. We have very few requirements, and those that we have will help you get the Action Team program up and running in your school in no time at all.

We suggest the following:

Have at least one teacher or adult school staff member serve as the Action Team Coordinator to manage the program and communicate with the Players Trust and Volunteers of America. (This can be a parent with school approval.)

Select 5-10 students to serve as Action Team Captains. Team Captains take on the responsibility of planning and organizing their Action Team-related volunteer activities with input from the Coordinator.

Action Team Captains encourage volunteering and community service among the entire student body.

Schedule permitting, Action Team Captains participate in monthly Action Team conference calls that feature Major League baseball players and Action Team Captains and Coordinators from across the United States.

Conduct at least two Action Team organized volunteer projects during the school year.

Share the dates and descriptions of your Action Team service activities with us 30-60 days in advance. You never know…we may even be able to arrange for a Major Leaguer to be on site to lend a hand.

Following your Action Team activities, share pictures and videos with us so that we can share them with others.

Follow the Action Team on Twitter and Instagram: @_ActionTeam

Complete and submit an activity report before the end of the school year including types of activities held, number of people helped, number of volunteers, volunteer hours, dollars raised (if applicable) and in-kind contributions (if applicable.)
